Educational value
  • This resource is very useful for the Australian Curriculum content descriptions in year 6 science about using energy from a variety of resources to generate electricity, and in year 7 science about some of the Earth's resources being renewable and others non-renewable, and communicating using scientific language and representations. It contains many suggestions for activities that would allow students to investigate ideas about clean energy resources using a range of strategies and to communicate their findings in different formats.
  • The resource can be used to provide students with activities to attain the elements of the year 6 achievement standard about describing how energy can be transformed from one form to another, and the year 7 achievement standards about the ways in which resources can be used sustainably and communicating using scientific language and appropriate representations. The breadth of activities, learning strategies and ways in which ideas can be presented make the resource suitable for a range of students.
  • The resource is relevant to the sustainability cross-curriculum priority, particularly the organising ideas about understanding the environment, scientific and technological developments, the impact of past practices and designing actions for sustainability in the future.
